Robert Ng

Born and bred in Auckland, Robert graduated with his both his Masters of Health Sciences (Honours) (Optometry) and Bachelor of Optometry (Honours) from the University of Auckland. He has also done additional training from the State University of New York, College of Optometry. Robert is therapeutically qualified to prescribe a range of medications to treat various eye conditions such as allergies, infections, inflammations, glaucoma and other red eyes. Robert was one of the first optometrists in the country to become authorised to prescribe medications to treat glaucoma (optometrist glaucoma prescriber).

Robert has a specialty interests in contact lenses, ocular diseases and sports vision. He is a member of numerous professional bodies including the New Zealand Association of Optometrists (NZAO), Cornea and Contact Lens Society (CCLS) and Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO). He has served as a committee member on one of NZAO’s council groups.

Robert has presented at conferences and written articles for health magazines. He is also a Founding Editor of the New Zealand Journal of Clinical Education (NZJCE), a peer review journal with a focus on clinical teaching.

Additionally, Robert is a Teaching Fellow/ Clinic Supervisor at the University of Auckland where he is primarily involved in teaching optometry students in their specialty contact lens clinic. He is also involved in supervising research projects.
